The Summer Reads Series continues!  It’s time for my July 2018 picks!  What are YOU reading this summer?  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.  Although I have a large TBR (to be read) pile, I’m always looking for new books to read or listen to on Audible.  I truly wish there were more hours in the day to lounge and READ.  As a child, I would BEG my Mom to take me to Kmart so I could spend my allowance on books.  I had a favorite chair and blanket that I would curl up with and spend my days escaping into the latest Judy Blume or Sweet Valley High saga.  These days, I can barely read a chapter without being distracted by such mundane tasks such as working, cooking, and cleaning.  Ahhh… to be young again!

Without further ado, I’m ready to share with you my Summer Reads picks for the month on July.  I can’t wait to dive into these selections!!  Three out of the four center around women in midlife.  I find this to be a plus and makes the books more believable right?

Click on the book images below, and you will be directed to Amazon.  From there, you can read detailed descriptions and order based on your preferences (hardbound, paperback, Kindle, or Audio).  If you decide to purchase one of my recommendations, please head over to the Middle Years Journey Facebook page and let me know!

The Middle Years Book Club Summer Reading Series JULY picks:

THIS IS ME Loving the Person You Are Today – Chrissy Metz.  Anyone who watches This is Us knows Chrissy.  She plays the character
Kate Pearson.  In her book, she talks about her struggles as a child, her constant battles with her weight and self-esteem, and how she slowly overcame her insecurities and started LIVING!  I’m sure there will takeaways from this book that we can all use in our own lives

When Life Gives You Lululemons – Lauren Weisberger.  This is a new novel by the author that gave us Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.  This book follows Miranda’s ex-assistant Emily Charlton who is now an image consultant to the stars.  Her two girlfriends join her as they encounter a DUI, divorce, infidelity, infertility, and manage to get in a lot of girl time all the while wearing $75 pairs of Lululemon yoga pants.  I have to admit I had to look up “Lululemon’s” on Google!  I buy my yoga pants at Old Navy! This is a feel-good summer novel for sure.

How to Walk Away – Katherine Center.  This story follows Margaret Jacobsen as she faces a life-changing event, and how going through this affects not only herself; but everyone around her.  I think we can relate to parts of this book.

How hard can it be? – Allison Pearson.  You may recall Allison Pearsons other best selling novel “I Don’t Know How She Does It” was made into a major motion picture starring Sarah Jessica Parker. In this second installment, we are reunited with Kate Reddy as she conquers midlife.  Kate is now in her 50’s and is returning to the workforce.  I don’t want to give too much away.  I love the fact that we are reading about a 50-year-old woman in today’s society!  So relatable for midlife women!

Don’t forget to spread the love and share this post with fellow book lovers!

Good Luck! And Happy Reading!
