There are some TV shows we forget, and there are some that will forever live on in our hearts. Sex and the City is one of those shows that will always be a favorite. When you think of Sex and the City, you instantly think of Carrie Bradshaw. When you pick up this book, you’re introduced to Carrie in her 50’s. No Mr. Big this time around. The inspiration for Is There Still Sex and the City is based on Candace Bushnell’s life in her 50’s post-divorce. How are she and her friends living out their midlife journeys? Definitely not like your average midlife woman. If I had half the luxuries, these women do, I’d be happy as a fricken lark.

There are short narratives given by women who discuss their lifestyle changes, dating challenges, and internal strife. (shall I swipe left or right?) All in all, it was a light and entertaining read. Some parts mimicked the same bouts of worry and insecurity as Carrie and the rest of us. I appreciated her honesty with the subject matter, and I hope that she finds her happily ever after. But until then… What would Samantha do???

My Rating: 3/5
